On this day in history:
January 6th, 2008 | Kicking off the year with a No DQ match for the Knockouts Title, champ Gail Kim took on a fierce challenger in Awesome Kong at Final Resolution 2008. The No DQ stipulation played to Kong’s advantage, and she spent much of the match tossing Gail around outside the ring. Once back in the ring, Gail managed to survive a chokeslam, kicking out of a close pin before surprising Kong with a roll-up pin, winning the match and retaining her title. As would be expected, Awesome Kong was not pleased with this, and it took an army of officials and Knockouts to get Gail backstage safely.
What are your memories of this moment?
