On this day in history:
December 31st, 2007 | On the final Raw of 2007, Beth Phoenix defended her Women’s Title against Melina and Mickie James in a Triple Threat match. Mickie and Melina spent much of the match jockeying for position while Beth worked at a slower pace. That strategy was the winning one, as Beth managed to pin Melina after hitting a well-timed fisherman suplex while Mickie was on the outside. This match must have impressed the right people, because the same bout was booked for Judgment Day 2008 a few months later.
