On this day in history:
December 26th, 2008 | The very first Divas Title reign came to an end on an ordinary episode of SmackDown when champion Michelle McCool took on Maryse, with Maria Kanellis serving as a guest referee. A kick to the back of the head was enough for Maryse to pin Michelle, crowning her the new Divas Champion. Michelle was so enraged by the loss that she attacked Maria after the match, turning heel in the process. Michelle’s reign of 155 days would be dwarfed by Maryse’s, which would go on to set the record at 216 days. That record would eventually be broken by AJ Lee‘s 295 day reign.
