In an effort to provide you with as much women’s wrestling news as possible, we’ll be rounding up indy wrestling results for events that aren’t all-women shows.
• Pro Wrestling Guerilla DDT4 (1/31/14): First Woman of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Candice LeRae teamed up with her new tag team partner, Joey Ryan, to take on Adam Cole and Kevin Steen in PWG’s annual DDT4 tournament. Candice and Joey unfortunately lost and were knocked out of the tournament, with Cole adding insult to injury after the match by spitting in Candice’s face.
Candice got her own back later on in the evening when she cost Cole and Steen their match with Chuck Taylor and Trent? by spitting in Cole’s face.
• Quintessential Pro Wrestling (2/2/14): On Sunday night, Candice also worked for Quintessential Pro Wrestling, appearing in another tag team match. This time she teamed up with Christina Von Eerie to do battle with PPRay, Peter Avalon and Ray Rosas. The ladies picked up the victory.
Also on the card was Cheerleader Melissa vs. Joey Ryan, with Melissa getting the win in her own intergender match.
• National Pro Wrestling Day/Wrestling is Heart (2/1/14): In another instance of women proving they’re just as good as the men, Heidi Lovelace wrestled Joe Pittman in the main event of National Pro Wrestling Day for Wrestling is Heart’s La Copa Idolo.
Their match went to a no contest when a group of villains interfered and laid waste to both combatants. This led to an angle between the rudos and tecnicos of CHIKARA, with the announcement that CHIKARA’s big return show would be held on May 25. Check out video of match above.
Also at NPWD, Maria Kanellis took donations for a Malaria charity drive, in which over $5000 was raised. Well done!
